Terms of Use

Effective date: 4 November 2026

Please read these Terms carefully. They explain your rights and obligations when you use Avela, how subscriptions work, and what is allowed in Prayer Circles and the Community feed.

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and individual entrepreneur Illia Tymoshenko (ФОП Тимошенко Ілля), taxpayer number 3366204955, 3 Hoholia St, Dnipro, Ukraine ("Avela", "we", "us"). They apply to the Avela app for iPhone and to the website avelabible.com (the "Services"). By downloading, installing or using the Services you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Services.

2. Changes to the Terms

We may change these Terms from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email in advance. If you keep using the Services after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services and cancel any subscription.

3. Who may use Avela

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use. A Family plan organiser who adds a minor to the plan confirms that they are that person's parent or guardian or have their permission.

4. Your account

Some features (Prayer Circles, the Community feed, sync) need an account, created with Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your device and Apple ID secure. Give accurate information, use a display name that does not impersonate anyone, and tell us at info@avelabible.com if you think your account has been misused. You may delete your account at any time.

5. Using the Services

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for your own non-commercial spiritual and personal purposes, in line with these Terms. You agree not to:

  1. break any law or anyone else's rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
  2. harass, threaten, bully, shame or intimidate anyone, or post hateful content based on religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, disability or age;
  3. post sexual, violent or graphic content, or content that encourages self-harm or illegal activity;
  4. post links, phone numbers or other contact details in the Community feed, ask for money, sell anything or advertise;
  5. impersonate a person or organisation, including clergy or a church;
  6. share another person's private information or prayer requests outside the circle where they were shared, without their permission;
  7. send spam, use bots or automated means to access the Services, or create accounts in bulk;
  8. copy, scrape or store a significant part of the content of the Services, or use it to train artificial intelligence models;
  9. try to get around security, subscription checks or usage limits, or to access data you are not allowed to see;
  10. reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows this despite this restriction;
  11. interfere with the Services or with other users' enjoyment of them.

6. Prayer Circles and the Community feed

Prayer Circles are private groups that you create or join by invitation. The Community feed is a shared space where Avela users post prayer requests and pray for one another.

  • Only Premium and Family subscribers can create circles, join circles and post in the Community feed. Free users can see a limited number of Community posts.
  • To protect the community, a new member's first posts in the Community feed may be reviewed before they appear. We may remove posts, limit features or suspend accounts that break these Terms.
  • You can report any post, reply or circle and block any user. Reports go to us and we review them. For urgent concerns write to info@avelabible.com.
  • We do not check every post, and other users' content does not reflect our views. Do not share information in a prayer request that you would not want the people who can see it to know.
  • If someone shares that they or another person is in danger, contact local emergency services. Avela is not an emergency service.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the prayers, journal entries, notes, posts and other content you create ("Your Content"). You are responsible for it and confirm that you have the right to share it.

So that we can run the Services, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, encrypt, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Services to you and to the people you choose to share it with. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies other users have already received in a circle or the feed and copies we must keep by law. We do not use Your Content for advertising and we do not sell it.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.

8. Our content and rights

The Services, including the app, design, the Avela name and logo, our original texts, programs and selections, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Bible translations and classic commentaries shown in the app are either in the public domain or used under their licences, and are credited in the app. Nothing in these Terms gives you rights to our trademarks or content beyond the licence in section 5.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe content in the Services infringes your copyright, email info@avelabible.com with: your contact details; a description of the work; where the content appears in the Services; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We will review it, remove or disable infringing content where appropriate, and may suspend repeat infringers.

10. Subscriptions and payments

  • Avela offers a free plan and paid subscriptions: Premium and Family (up to 6 people). Features and prices are shown in the app before you buy and may differ by country.
  • Subscriptions are bought and billed through your Apple ID. They renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • A free trial, if offered, turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. If you cancel during a trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing in these Terms limits refund rights you have under consumer law.
  • If we change prices, we will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent. The new price applies from your next renewal.
  • When a subscription ends, paid features stop. Content you created stays on your device; content above the free limits is kept but cannot be added to until you subscribe again.

11. Changes to the Services and termination

We continually develop Avela and may add, change or remove features. You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop providing the Services; where reasonable we will warn you first. If we stop providing the Services entirely, we will give reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 7–9 and 13–16) survive termination.

12. Apple App Store

If you got the app from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any product claims, legal compliance claims or third-party intellectual property claims relating to the app. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms.

13. Spiritual, medical and other disclaimers

Avela is a tool for personal prayer and Bible reading. Explanations, reflections and programs are offered for devotional purposes and do not replace the teaching of your church, pastoral care, or professional medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are struggling with your health or safety, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not promise that they will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, or that every text is free from mistakes.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for reasonable claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content or from your breach of these Terms or of the law.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. If you have a complaint, please write to info@avelabible.com first; most problems can be solved quickly this way. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, disputes will be heard by the courts of Ukraine. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in its courts.

17. Other terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we do not enforce a provision right away, we do not waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor that continues the Services, without reducing your rights. The English version of these Terms prevails over any translation.
